Quickbooks - Accounts and settings
Click through to this menu to set the Company Name, Address , telephone, Year End, Accounting method, turn on optional settings such as classes, Locations, Projects, Multicurrency,
Quickbooks - Manage users
Click this menu item to set up additional users, amend or delete existing users, note you must be an Admin user to set up and amend this area.
Quickbooks - custom form styles
These are the templates or letterheads for the Invoice, Credit note and Estimate layouts, i.e where to "hard code" your bank details onto your Invoices etc.
Quickbooks - Chart of Accounts
Click through to the chart of accounts or nominal account listing, set up new accounts or categories, sub accounts, define the profit and loss and balance sheet. allocate account numbers.

Quickbooks - All Lists
A sub menu to get to various lists, such as Classes, Terms, chart of accounts, Locations. Note this is the only area where you can amend or delete existing list items, and make sub classes for example.
Quickbooks - Products and services
This is what you sell, previously called Items, these could be physical things or services either way you set them up here and use them in your Sales Invoices.
Quickbooks - Recurring transactions
If you want a regular, Invoice, Bill, Credit Note, Journal , bank payment etc you can set it to be a recurring transactions, once set up the list of the existing ones appear here, you can also amend, postpone, delete from here.
Quickbooks - Attachments
When attachments have been uploaded to the cloud you can find them here
Quickbooks - Custom fields
You can set up additional custom fields to appear on your Sales Invoices or Estimates, such as a purchase order reference number
An extra facility to tag or add a note on any type of transaction and later report by that tag or look at and remove as appropriate.
Quickbooks - Rules
This relates to the bank feed in Quickbooks - For those regular bank payments set up a rule . Note these need to be set vary carefully otherwise if set up wrongly the system will continue to make the same error month after month.
Quickbooks - Currencies
Quickbooks is a full multicurrency program and very powerful, however it will only really suit businesses that are truly multi currency i.e. foreign bank accounts, Issue Invoices in foreign currencies. Once turned on this is the only option that you cannot turn off again - Not sure get advice first.
Quickbooks - Import data
If you have certain information in another system and you can export that from that system into excel or csv files then you can import into Quickbooks to save inputting individually again.

To export multiple reports into excel format usually for back up purposes.

To reconcile bank accounts - or in fact any balance sheet account

Set up Budgets here for the company or individual departments or locations or indeed individual customers and or projects
Quickbooks - Audit Log
A complete double entry audit log of every transaction showing who entered it date and time, when it was altered who by and when deleted if so. Note this cannot be turned off
